Bala Vihar:
The Association conducts Bal Vihar class every alternate Sundays for kids
above 5 years. The goal is to provide Indian kids an opportunity to learn
about our Great Hindu culture, tradition and practice it.
Kids learn the different Hindu Spiritual practices like chanting Slokas,
Singing Bhajans. Kids were taught the Moral stories found in the Great Epics
like Ramayana and Mahabarath. The class pays a lot of importance to daily
practice of Spirituality and incorporating it as a way of life, rather than
treating it just as a mere interesting subject or part of History. We want
the kids to feel the Joy of devotion and choose Lord Rama, Devi Sita and
Lord Krishna as their Super Heros and Role Models. Parents are expected to
help us achieve this goal, by practicing at home what they learn in the
class.
Our hope is that this class will provide Kids with a Moral Compass. A moral
Compass that will help them find the right direction in the maze of various
value systems that they will be pounded with and they will encounter in
their life. A moral compass that will show them the way from Darkness to
Light.
This class is conducted by two dedicated members AjayDev Nallur and Dr.
Paneer Selvam for the past two years at Ajay’s residence. There are about 30
kids who attend the class regularly.
Dance class:
We have just started teaching kuchipudi and bharathnatyam to few kids. This
is also being held at one of the member’s residence.
Bhajan:
Hindu Association wants to provide a venue for the community, each and every
one emphasizing not just members of Hindu Association, but also non members
to perform Devotional singing, Bhajan. Bhajan is held on the 3rd Saturday of
every month for one or two hours.
Here are some reasons why Hindu Association believes why Bhajan is important
and how they help a spiritual aspirant.
To gain concentration in this spiritually dark age (Kali yuga), Bhajan is
better than meditation. By loud singing, other distracting sounds will be
overcome and concentration will be achieved. Bhajan is a spiritual discipline
aimed at concentrating the mind of one’s beloved deity. Through that one
pointedness, one can merge in the divine being and experience the bliss of
the one’s true-self.
Bhagavad Gita Class:
Gita class is held First Saturday of every month in a member’s house. We
follow Swamy Chinmayananda’s Gita disclosure. Each participant is expected to
read the versus and explanation before the class. Gita class’s duration is 1
hour. In the class we read the sloka and explanation for 40 minutes.
Remaining 20 minutes we discuss about the contents read in the class. This
class is going well for the past one year and we have completed the karma
yoga chapter 2. This class comprises of 10 members. Starting this February we
have started the second batch of Gita class. The second class has 15 members.
Sloka class for Adults:
Starting March we have started the sloka class for adults. This class is
held the last Saturday of every month. We have covered Ganesha
Pancharathinam in the last class. We are planning to start Lalitha sahasara
namam in the next class.

Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaya , 108 times every day.
